Our mission and vision as a church are the same as every Christian congregation throughout history and around the world. Because we have been forgiven of our sins, we aim to glorify God through faithful obedience to his Word. This takes place in our life together as a church and our witness in the world around us. In the church, we aim to live in loving gospel community. We do this by speaking God’s word to one another and serving one another. As we do this we are growing together, being trained in the sound words of the Scriptures. A big part of this is the Sunday gathering, but it also happens during the week as we spend time together. In the world around us, we aim to live faithfully in accordance with the gospel. We do this by speaking God’s word, the gospel, to those who do not yet know Christ. We aim to live with evangelistic intentionality, prayerfully pursuing the opportunities that God has given us to talk to people about Jesus. In short, Providence Church aims to glorify God by living together as a church body that will make and train disciples who in turn make and train disciples.

OUR MISSION: TO GLORIFY GOD BY MAKING DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS

This is what Providence Church is all about. To join Providence, youʼre not joining a static entity, you are joining a mission. You are signing up to actively advance our mission to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. These words (which are our way of stating Jesusʼ mission for his church: the Great Commission of Matthew 28:16-20) guide and shape everything we are and everything we do. Providence is not a church where we will allow you to be passive or to be a consumer. Providence makes disciples instead of pleasing consumers. Members of Providence Church are called to be active, to intentionally live out our mission. This mission is for all of us. Though Providence Church is governed and led by a team of pastors/elders and additionally led by an ever-growing team of deacons who assist the elders in shepherding the flock and making disciples, we want a church full of leaders. Whether or not you ever hold a leadership title at Providence, we desire a church full of people who are taking the lead in carrying out our mission: Glorifying God by making disciples of all nations. This is your mission. This mission is not easy. You will meet resistance from the enemy as you pursue this mission and this mission will require you to supernaturally rely on God. Though difficult, joining this mission will be immensely rewarding as you watch Jesus use you and use our church in supernatural ways.

What drives our mission is the finished work of Christ (the gospel). Pursuing this mission doesn’t earn us anything. We pursue this mission as a response to the life-changing grace of God. This is Jesus’ mission. He’s building our church and he calls and empowers us to join him in his supernatural disciple-making mission. We think it’s the most exciting thing anyone could be a part of.
